There’s something beautifully peaceful about sitting down and making something with your hands—and at Gwong1 Studio, you don’t just make something, you make a glowing little moon to take home with you.

Tucked away in Manchester’s creative hub, this workshop invites you to craft your very own wax moon lamp, guided by friendly instructors who gently walk you through each step.

Inspired by Korean techniques, the process is hands-on, calming, and oddly therapeutic. You’ll melt, pour, mould and shape the soft wax into a one-of-a-kind lamp that looks like it came straight from the sky.

Workshops run for around 1.5 to 2 hours and are completely beginner-friendly—no crafty background needed.

You can choose your lamp size (from a dainty 8cm to a larger 15cm version), and when you're done, you’ll leave with a soft-glowing, USB-rechargeable light and a surprising sense of calm.

Perfect as a creative solo escape, a cosy date idea, or a wholesome group activity. It’s gentle, grounding, and genuinely joyful—just you, some wax, and a little magic.

What we think:

Fun, reasonably priced and definitely engaging (after all it is a workshop). We just like everything hand made, and lamp making Gwong1 is definitely high up on our list.
